ELLT 2012: 36 Days and a Wake-Up

Just over a month to go, so a good time to start reviewing the plan, hearing the complaints, setting the expectations bars higher and lower. This year we’re biking someplace different, but returning to Red Hook…

Basic Race Itinerary:

Thursday July 26

  • Pre-race BBQ at 11 Adams Lane, Byfield-Newbury

Friday, July 27

  • 7am: Prologue Stage – Penalty Kicks and Townies v Roadies Soccer, Central Street Fields, Byfield-Newbury
  • 9:30am: Rock Climbing, MetroRock, Newburyport
  • 1:00pm: Flatbreads, Amesbury
  • 3:00pm: Golf, Amesbury Country Club
  • 7:30pm: Roast Beef, Steak Bombs, and Beer

Saturday, July 28

  • 8:00am: Mountain Biking, Stratham, NH
  • 12:30pm: Red Hook Brewery, Portsmouth, NH
  • 3:30pm: Basketball, Adams Lane, Byfield-Newbury
  • 7:00pm: Closing Ceremonies with Families and Food

Sunday, July 29

  • 9:00am: Antiquing with Steve Ball, Rowley, MA (optional)
  • 9:15am: Biscuits & Gravy, Nancy’s Marshview Cafe, Salisbury, MA
  • 11:00am: assume the position below

  1. This is fantastic. It has been an awful spring/summer of rain, injuries, overwork and equipment failures. If I can lose 25 pounds in the next month I can possibly show in the Mt. Biking, and some vestigial skill might get me on the leaderboard in the gym. But otherwise the only likely accomplishment for this former runner-up is going to be in BBQ consumption. But it will be worth the overnight flight. . . .

    • I think Moeling’s full of it. You get lowered expectations for hoops, Ben, but quit shoveling that crap about biking. (Unless you can produce a doctor’s note for injuries like I can.)
